Trailer tie-down

ok- bit the bullet and ordered the 2" powertyes today (with sheepskin)

Ker- the utility trailer I'm renting has a motorcycle chock in it. I'm assuming that would suffice and wouldn't need the freestanding wheel chock from HF?

Shannon- as they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Hadn't seen that method before- thanks!
If it has the motorcycle chock in it that's great and the sheepskins on the straps will keep it from marking the triple trees. I've been trailering mine like that for 11 years without any marks or damage to the trees. Also the 2 straps down low on the swing arm to keep the rear in place, I also put rags/socks on the paint to protect it from the straps unless you got the sheepskins for those also. Like someone else said, remove the seat but I would try and cover that area under the seat with shrink wrap or something in case you run into rain on your journey since your using an open trailer.
Last year I put 5500 trailer miles on my Dog:oldlaugh: Its a trailer Queen:chopper:

Also, once the bike is strapped down, should the kickstand stay down or up?
Put wood blocking under the frame so the tires are 1/4" off the trailer, then strap the bike down. This will not compress your suspension and keeps the bike very secure.

Once its strapped down the kickstand will be in the air, so it doesn't matter if its up or down, just make sure you put it up before backing it off the trailer.

Looking forward to retirement
These are the tie downs you want for the triple tree. Bigdog use to sell these. I have 4 pair! 38066929-C9F0-4656-8DBE-5CD51D9E0156.png

I pulled down to much years ago on a POS and broke a kickstand so if you gonna be pulling down leave it up. If one of these nice methods above it don't matter.

Thanks for all of the responses. Based on some feedback, have decided to rent the enclosed trailer and buy a Harbor Freight ramp to get the bike on.

Gents-
Just wanted to follow up with this. I used the chock that Ker suggested and put the bike in the back of the uhaul truck (vs trailer). Also had it sandwiched between two couches.

Everything went well, to include getting it off/down the ramp. Bike is now back in sunny FL. Thanks again for everyone's help!
