After a bit of a mothball of the rewire project I reached out to Shannon (Mr. Wright) and we flew him in to Phoenix and got ‘er done.

Is it done yet? Just wondering if you got pics of the whole finished product with the tank?

You ended up going with the NAMZ system? I've never used it but looked good and some other folks on here used it years ago on the older dogs often.

We got there by the end of a long first day. Problem was, no lights. We were hungry, Shannon was fried, so we headed to The Tav and planned on a trouble shoot the next morning.

The next morning I had business to take care of and Shannon headed to the shop early. At 8:30 he sent me a text that read,”congratulations, you fried every bulb on your bike!”.

So I headed for RamJet on Cave Creek and picked new led daymaker headlight, led upgrade bulbs for my blinkers and a whole new taillight.

Once all was assembled and circuits confirmed, we needed to start her up for the first time and see if the voltage was right. Had to put in another coli to get her to start and three rounds of battery recharge to get the oil cranked back up out of the case.

Once she started, we knew what caused the whole meltdown - 18 + volts running through. Shannon had his trademark isolator main 30 amp fuse removed so we could run her and trouble shoot without burning up all our new work.

Funny all your bulbs burnt out and that's why y'all thought there was a problem with the wiring haha. Voltage Regulator putting out 18v will kill the whole system! Glad to hear you got it sorted now I'm sure ready for a little ride!

Yeah, the only part of the whole electrical system that has not been replaced is the stator.

It was a really fun job, and I really like that wire harness, with the Badlands controller.
The worse part of the job was sorting through what the other guy did. After getting everything labeled, and the harness rerouted, the rest was easy.

Glad to here you liked it! I hadn't worked with it yet but I have looked at it pretty closely and looks straight forward that's why I suggested it to Rick. Not to mention it's reasonably priced.

With that badlands controller makes it easy to replace that unit seperatly if it ever goes bad.

No offense to the shop guy but it's interesting he had trouble with that NAMZ unit. Then again it seems like if it doesn't plug in like all the new bikes people aren't interested in the old skool electrical work. It's a shame, 12v systems are basic as hell.

A good challenge to keep your hand steady for the soldering!! Haha I would wind up shaking like a dog shittin' peach pits.
