Primary Leak

I've had a primary Leak for some time now. Few years back phatchopper helped me with removing my.inner and outer primary. At that time I replaced all gaskets and torqued everything back to specs. Lasted awhile then started again. I really kinda worn out with it. Thinking terribly about an open primary. Maybe I'll repair it again before I pull the trigger!! Any suggestions?

I found some old school brown liquid gasket maker at O'Reillys. Its helped stop my primary drips. Just my .02

Aviation Gasket Sealer #3?

That stuff is wonderful! Never hardens and just a little brake cleaner and it washes off with a paper towel.

Cant remember the name exactly, but the same properties. Stays a bit flexible but fills the gaps. I've flat filed my outer down to the nickel and it still dribbles like an old dog. This stuff stopped that....mostly. lol.

have you tried the new square type o-ring that Curtis sells at wild steed worx? Outter and inspection cover gasket.
No I haven't. I bought a complete primary gasket set from Curtis in early16 or late 15.

Really shouldn't need sealer on primary o ring gaskets are you sure it's net the vent or the starter leaking.
Checked the vent and no it's not leaking.
I'm thinking about pulling the primary again and start and if no good results, then I'll purchased and open primary.

I agree try that before you spend out the dough Or unless you've always wanted the outer primary like myself Then go for it

Did you purchase the Primary? If so what kind? I think I'll take it apart again and give it another try! Thanks

The baker open primary is very smooth, check around your starter before you pull it all apart, and as far as the vent (I know you checked it) but it allows oil out and it collects on bottom of primary there should be oil residue near and below the vent if there isn't I'd say the vent is not working(plugged) and the starter is getting oil in it.
Ok thanks

Just finished riding abit and I can see it leaking below the primary, down the length of it. Friend told it was leaking from the inner primary

When you do pull the outer cover, check to see if its flat? I bought a brand new cover and it had high spots all over.

Here's what I used to stop the drip...

Mine has been leaking since the Kansas trip in June. Drives me crazy.. but after speaking to Curtis and realizing how big of a job it is.. I'll have to wait a minute before doing it.. but the vent was the first thing I checked after Eric informed me of it.. Mine is leaking between the engine and primary too..
