Sorry about the pictures from original thread but when we changed servers they were all lost. And I lost the originals over the years
Oh no surprise. Lol. They’ve been up for a long time. Not surprised they’d stop working especially since the thing with photo bucket

FullSizeRender (9).jpg I received my new gauge yesterday. I work today so will likely do the install tomorrow. Moderators, would it be best to post my install in this thread or start a new one so the info is at the top of the thread? Thanks.

I was looking at the instructions on setting up the speedo. Has anybody used the additional functions such as quarter-mile time mileage to service?

I posted a new thread from my install this morning if anyone needs it.
Hey Brandon, I haven't read through this whole thread, but was your original speedo bad? Or did you just replace it cause you wanted to? I like the original speedo's and mine is going bad so just thought I'd ask.:D

Mine was going bad. Intermittently just wouldn't work when I fired her up and took off. I would have to either stop and restart or shut it off on the fly and restart (not recommended lol). When it didn't work, it did not read speed nor clock miles. Even if it did the initial key on test function sweep there were still times it didn't work once i was rolling. So I was happy to drop the $217 for the Dakota Digital gauge.

what?

I'll chime in. I first noticed a bit of moisture inside the bezel around the same time the rubber on my reset button started to corrode and fall apart. shortly after that the speedometer started to act up. The tach was still working but the speedo needle stopped moving and then the digital readout on the bottom would flicker and flash.

went with the Dakota Digital Red. it was an easy enough install. the wiring plugs all match up. The hardest part is the little set screw on the underside of the housing. I comes with instructions on how to install and to program/calibrate. For checking the speedometer i mapped out a stretch of road that was one mile (you could use google or simply use your car to drive the same stretch of road.) and time it.

I compared mine readings to the three HD's I rode down to the Redwood Run with and we were all real close. Funny though cause when I first got it the readout is big and I couldn't/wouldn't believe that it was right but it was.

I tested it on the freeway with one of the "speedo check" markings with the 5 mile run. It was off about 2/10ths at the end of the 5 mile run but that was an unofficial test.

Plug and play for sure. Kudo's to Don for doing this group buy for us. :2thumbs:
So I just bought one and when I put it on my bike, I don’t have to choose from miles an hour to kilometers are any of that crap just plug it in and it will be miles per hour ? And hopefully it’s right on like other people’s.

I got the Red display one and it was the easiest best upgrade I made to the original speedometer. I adjusted mine using a gps over 10 years ago but I’m sure you can use an app now days. I like the easy to use features too.
