This is a reminder to check your fender strut bolts, especially if you ride someone. This guy was riding a 110 lbs chick, and one front bolt broke on one side, and the back one on the other side.
Hold on, dang picture won't upload.

What grade bolts? I think it was Eric that posted about a broken bolt in his forward control just a while ago....

He said at 80 mph, it just felt like he was loosing power. The chick never noticed. The guy behind him flagged him down when it started smoking.

That was only half of the recall old man....grade 8 Chrome along with the NordLock Washers.

I was skeptical on the NordLock washers but I had a broken bolt and too and just got them at fastenal and damn it those buggers fahkin work. 10k miles hasn't loosened up yet and I check them regularly.

That was my forward control. And those are actually Stainless Steel Per the manual which makes sense as stainless is about a grade 5 and will generally bend before breaking. I was able to get it out with an EZ out another good reason not to use grade 8 there..haha

Yeah, just found it rather odd to hear of a couple of bolt failures at the same time.... who's grading these bolts... North Korea???

Mine don't have them on, and unlike you I ride 2 up 95% of the time and haven't had a problem since the recall, loctite works also

The issue is not the bolt grade, its the fact they come loose. Once they loosen all the load is applied to the fastener and its cantilevered on top of it. No bolt can sustain that kind of load.

What is the spec/size of the bolts? I need some to fix mine after this rear end wreck anyway. Nordlock washers too if someone knows?
