Avons here, can't beat the miles I put on them. Shaving is something you do to your face, not your tires..Sidewalls on my metzeler gave up around 3000 miles, date was about a year old.... Avon for me...

Note to self: shut up now!Not really and I ain't talkin about the tires now either
This doesn't look dry rot to me...looks like it caught something that's a pretty clean straight line there. I see no cracking around the line like you would with dry rot.Just got in from garage and just noticed crack on sidewalk of Metzler tire I just installed this, has less than 300 miles on it looks like dry rot! What do you guys did this now?

I wasn't sure where you were going with that actually. That's why I asked about the tire pressure, maybe cause by a pot hole or man hole cover

No shaving on this tire, but maybe don't want to shave another one and he wants to see what other tires are out there so he don't have to shave the next one.I wasn't sure where you were going with that actually.
Well anyway I guess he doesn't have to worry about shaving it as he should probably get a new tire. Sometimes you win and sometimes you lose.

I have 7000 on my current 300 that I put on this spring. Still looks good. I think I can pull another 2k out of it.No shaving on this tire, but maybe don't want to shave another one and he wants to see what other tires are out there so he don't have to shave the next one.
I wish Avon would go back to the Venom, I got 8500 miles outta the OEM tire,
Totally agree... not supposed to shave tires.... thats why I just cocked it to the side and rode it til it went bald with uneven tire wear, lol.. the metzeler is a much better looking tire hands down and has always done me great until this 300 dilema.. so yeah avons fit and work so that s what it is.Avons here, can't beat the miles I put on them. Naaa, dyna beads. The only thing being shaved is a small portion of the sidewall that comes to a point. Just flatten it out and you have clearence. About .060 removal total.Shavin a tire? I don't think so. Won't it become unbalanced? And won't it be unsafe having the sidewall thinner? Not sure how much is removed but it appears to me the tire isn't right for the bike.
The metzeler has a lot of extra meat right there, a very well made tire, but these bikes aren't rat rods and I wouldn't do it.. just my opinion. I love my metzeler and prefer over n e other, but they just don't fit.. lolShavin a tire? I don't think so. Won't it become unbalanced? And won't it be unsafe having the sidewall thinner?
