I have an 05 chopper that has had the motor worked and now it feels like it jumps a tooth on very quick acceleration, the belt is good and tight and there are no teeth missing, I am considering switching to a chain drive, any comments on availability and cost and how hard would it be to switch.... Thanks

Sulconst2, any issues with the chain drive now that it is installed, other than the bolt, why did you switch? It looks great, and I bet you don't have to worry about snapping a belt anymore...

I talked to the friend of mine at the bike night tonight and I have plans to go to his place saturday or sunday to take pics of his chain drive conversion that a local guy does down here. His has a modified Sportster chain tensioner on it and he hasn't had a lick of problems. I will post the guys name for you to contact him and see if he is still doing them.

I know there are after Market conversions out there, but there are pros and cons on both sides. I also thought about it and Friends of mine who have Chain, highly suggest not doing it, a properly lubricated Final Drive chain throws chain oil, your rear will always be a mess.

On the Plus side, you can make a roadside repair with a chain, Aint happening with a Belt, although a Belt will always outlast a chain. On the Other hand, if you piss someone off, they aint cutting your Chain if you have one, they might Cut your Belt though, The Belt should not feel like it's Jumping a tooth, Might be a Clutch Issue? If it's tightened properly, you couldn't skip a tooth if you tried.

Belt is always going to produce less noise. Chain will give you a more possitive pull but at what cost? I'd rather tear up a belt then a trans.

Just some things to consider.

Blitz one thing to add is possibly a dry lubricant. I use a chain lube on my high performance Honda ATV that dries almost immediately and doesn't attract sand, dirt, and doesn't seem to fling off. Let me know if you guys want to know the brand and I'll walk my ass out in the garage.
