ATF in the primary!!

How many of you Dog riders run ATF in the primary?

None that I know of. A buddy runs it in his HD but I was under the impression with our bigger motors we could get some slippage with it. So I just run redline.

I have run it in mine. If you look on the Revera Primo clutch web site it is what they recommend. Clutch seems to work fine. No lurching or slipping.

Well..... I´ve been running Amsoil 20-50 (same as in the motor) since day one and never had slippage or any problems.

If you look at the bottle it says also for primary...

F-Type for Fords. I ran it last year but now I went back to using HD primary oil. Wanted something of higher viscosity.

Bill the stuff I use is Dextron/ Mercron. It will work in GM or Ford.

I'm with you on all but the primary Harley, why not the same as in your engine?

And just for the record, I am willing to change type of oil as my engine gets very hot while in slow traffic and the oil in the primary gets very dirty between my changes every 1000 miles. If I could find the old Castrol GPS I would go with that but......

my choices, be cause the Motor has always had that brand since new (one owner bike before me)..

Tranny because i chose that when i got the bike, and had left over after the rebuild, so I went back with that. and have plenty for a change.


Primary, I did the golden spectro just cause so many people swear by golden spectro, and I am new to Vtwins so what the hell. its only one quart a year, and amazon has ir for 18 bucks delivered haha.

I always service with: :2thumbs: Never ever had an issue with: :2thumbs:
ATF type F in the primary...except when using Alto Carbonite clutches. With those I use synthetic ATF.
Transmission : BelRay gearsaver 85-140
Engine : Mobil 1 synthetic 15-50.

I have been using B&M Trick Shift ATF from Auto Zone in my primary for 4 years now no slipping. easy to get.
