That's interesting.
My understanding is it is the misalignment caused by the boxes that is the issue.
How many miles were on her when they did the warranty work?
I had about 15k on them, I now have about 40k on them. When I took it in, they check and found the guides still in specs but right at the limit. So the shop got approval from BD and rebuilt them with what I was told was S&S components but they kept the TP Rocker Boxes.

The shop had been changing them out before with S&S Boxes, but I guess BD made changes or something as more were done or they investigated further, who knows. Just know they were changed so far so good. If I can find the sheet from the warranty work, I will double check the parts list, but I understood on more than one occasion from the mechanic/service manager that it what was done.

Possible that I misunderstood or was told wrong, but I can verify that I have the rollers, different springs than original, and TP Rocker Boxes and I have no issues that I know of.

While they had it, they changed the cam to a 600 so the spring were also changed.

Thanks for the follow up.
Would be good to have all the info.
You obviously had less of a problem with alignment than others as most I have seen are gone between 4 and 8000 miles.
Would also be interesting to see the wear pattern now...:D

On my 05 the guides where already replaced before I got the bike @12k miles. I replaced all my stuff to S&S last year, was not cheap but I don't plan on selling the bike anytime soon so I considered it a better investment. With that said, if your bike is running fine with stock TP stuff by all means rock it till it actually causes you a problem. No harm no foul. Its pointless to get wound up about what is what. Just ride....

Silly post, and you of all people should know better.
WTF is silly about the post. Keep the TP boxes, and you'll eventually get bit in the ass. It's all about geometry. You can't change that.
I had a customer tell me his bike was running good on a trip he took before he dropped it off for S&S rocker boxes, and performance upgrades. The head was just about junk with the valve trying to seat in the aluminum beyond the seat insert.
Hey, I just fix them at the customer's request...

I didn't get that either John. Maybe Vik can explain what he means.

If I pull the cover sometime I will take a look. Right now it is snowing but once the weather gets better, plan on riding it and keeping it maintained to the best of my ability and deal with any problems as they come along. Hopefully none will occur and give me many more miles.

Didn't Raywood get many miles on his old 05 with the TP? Cannot recall.

Ya know..... And yes he does. But I'm not in charge here so it's not up to me. I am surprised every time I log on and there is no messages with warnings....

Why not a 600 why go through the trouble for not the real deal?
Several reasons....

for the 600 you need to change also springs. plus the 117 (BDM specs) works better with the 585, it is plug & play and it give you an overall better performance.

The 600 is more high end (HP) while the 585 give you both; Low end (Torque) & HP.

The difference from stock cam (546 or 569) to 585 is amazing! my bike really pulls like a Freight Train now! HIGHLY RECOMMENDED! :2thumbs:
