I have a 04 Mastiff and I was wondering if anyone knows of a aftermarket fuel gauge that works on these tanks either one that screws in from the top or one from the bottom where the fuel comes out For the carb

Have you tried G:eek::eek:GLE?

Fuel Gauge at Motorcycle Superstore

NOTE: Honestly the fuel gauges are not accurate or worth it IMO. Most people stick to mileage as it is more accurate and reliable. Even on bikes that I have had with a gas gauge, 1/4 tank could mean I was empty or was at a half tank. I never trusted it. I don't even really use mileage anymore. I look in my tank, if I can't see gas, its time to fill up.

Franco is correct. Just reset your odometer after fill up. I go 150 miles per tank. When I hit 150 it usually takes between 3-3.5 gallons to fill my tank to the top. Just depends on where I am, city or highway, flat or hill country on my bikes mpg. Since I went to this system I have yet to run out of fuel!

Franco, if you can't see the gas because it's dark, use a lighter!

I haven't run out of gas but I'd still like to have an indicator better than just the idiot light on my K-9.

Since I am fuel injected I am going to build my own fuel gauge based off a design already done on the internet at ecomodders -- basically it reads the amount of time the injector is on and does the math -- this is usuallly very accurate once setup since it measures fuel that has come out of the tank not where some silly float is.

I might get energetic and replace the entire digital dash with a unit with this feature using an Arduino (examples are already on the net) Could add almost any sensor/display you'd want
oil psi
oil temp
head temp
mpg/fuel left
gps (also theft deterrent/pager)
options are endless even without getting a huge display that would belong on a bagger!

Actually I am working on a mod for this design that will work on carb bikes as well. Probably not quite as accurate but will be pretty close -- stay tuned)

did you ever find fuel quantity indicator solution for carb bikes?

No - haven't really been working at all on that as I haven't been riding my carb bike lately. Will let you know if I do. Winter is coming and then when I work on that kind of stuff.
Actually think I just found a solution that someone else has already done.
Check this out.

Uses a sensor and sends the data to a smart phone. I may use this sensor when I build my unit this winter as it will be the same for EFI and carb!

Neat but that looks a bit big to hide on a chopper? That board looks to be about 5" x 4" alone nevermind the Bluetooth. Would need to pot it to keep water out?

Take a stab at it though looks cool
