Your "Opinion" on a custom paint job!

Alright got some pics from the painter today and was kind of shocked.. So here goes. I originally asked for a black and silver american flag paint job on my pitt so when I got the picture the painter decided to add some blue to my idea. I wasn't really digging it in the pictures. So I decided to drop in and discuss the color change. Well when looking at the tank actually decided to see what he does with the rest of the bike as the pictures just did not do the work justice it actually does flow with the work. Not sold completely on the design but its not all the way done either.. So by this week he will have the rest of the bike done... Looking for options if it comes back and I am not happy with the work. Any ideas on how to handle it...
I feel that I went into detail on what I wanted.
Even took him examples of shading and design... really wanted to leave room for his ideas as well with design but the color was not negotiable. Maybe I am premature on this post as it is not even done and who knows may actually turn out better than I imagined but just prepping myself...

It looks quite suttle in the picture but I bet it'll pop out in the sun. What more is he planning on doing to it?

Thats what I wanted something that was not loud... that is all on the tank after looking at the blue it is darker that what appears on the pic. blends in with the black.. I wanted something that was a ghost flag. More of a background not bold. :flag:

As of tradition and official legislation the American flag is made up of three colors which are red, white and blue. However, recently a rather tainted version of the American flag has come into observation. This is the black and silver American flag which has been raised up by the masses today.

America is currently undergoing one of the worst economic crises in the history of the country. The severity of crisis is still being realized as unemployment levels increase, foreclosures sky rocket and gas prices continue to rise. The black and silver flag is a symbolic representation of the current recession that the country is going through.

It is basically a sign to show that people are willing and striving to take a stand against the rising rate of unemployment and ever increasing rate of foreclosures and gas prices.

A number of hip hop artists have also started making use of the black and white American flag in their music videos. This goes to show that even music artists are addressing political and social issues with the black and silver American flag by depicting it in their music videos. The news of this depiction has made it big across the world.

In its essence the black and silver American flag is a call for change. In these current situations change is what America needs. As it is the presidency has changed hands and all those that have voted for this change are hopeful that the economy will be revived if everybody works together and makes the required effort.

Desecration Charges against Black and Silver American Flag

Some people are of the notion that tainting the official U.S flag in this manner is actually an act of desecration. However by law, it is not. Rather as mentioned above it is an expression of freedom of speech. It is a protest against the current political leaders and a call for change.

However, there is a darker side to the Black and Silver American flag. This is the fact that it is taken as a plea to bring more black leaders into the government. This objective has been achieved with a black man becoming the president of the United States for the very first time.

Many communities in America are going through dark times at the moment. The only source of support that people have in such cases is to treat each other with kindness and facilitate each other as much as they can.

The black and silver American flag shows the readiness of the American public to be able to bear the current recession and their will and perseverance to get through these difficult times. Irrespective of the skin color of the individuals in the country, everybody is suffering.

A good laugh about the black and silver flag!!! some of it really does hit home and is a good statement. Not the reason for my new paint just thought it looked "suttle" all I will say is we do need a change!!!!

This is the "Shit I dug up from the internet" ????

You made a very specific request that the color was not negotiable. If you don't explain that too him asap, I think you're going to be screwed.

First impression of the blue in the tank...I don't like it.

my thought is the flag that he gave you doesn't stand for anything. make him do it the way you want it, after all, it is your scoot and you are the one that will have to live with it and explain it to everybody.

At the end of the day, color is always a personal choice.

What color scheme were you originally envisioning for the canton?

If black and silver is what you ordered don't waver from your original request. Just the fact that you made this post tells us you are not happy with the changes. A good businessman will always meet the needs of their customers. Your need is black and silver. JMO

I was thinking if he adds blue he needs to also add red or leave out the blue on flag. Your original thought is better.

You are the one paying for the paint job. You should get what YOU want.

I brought my tins to a painter a couple years ago. I wanted blue real fire flames with a face in the flames on the tank. I was very specific on what I wanted. I even showed him a picture. I'm glad I had him do a test panel first. He did his own thing which wasn't even close to what I wanted. He said I had to give him artistic freedom and wouldn't do it my way. He didn't get the job.

One of these days I'll have to talk to Ed about my tins. I know he can do it right.

I as some of the others have had an issue with a local painter doing what he thought would look good. When I seen the finished product, I wasn't happy at all! Funny thing is he seen the expression on my face and knew I wasn't satisfied! All I wanted him to do was match a color my tins to an example I brought into him. Needless to say he stripped the tins and got it to match. First and only time I used him.

It's your scoot and you'll be riding it and displaying it. Final decision is yours, you may need to guide him through the steps to get it the way you envision it to be. Good luck...:2thumbs:

First of all thanks to those replied. Some good insight. Originally, I was thinking black with silver stars. I am going to see what the finished product looks like before I pull the pin on this.

Design honestly wasn't really well voiced to him that's where I explained the flag concept and let him go. The color scheme was clear cut. I caught some of the tins that were in the process of getting painted and curious to see how they turn out. The blue really looks good up front it's not as bold as it shows in the picture.
More to follow this week.

If you're looking to express your patriotism, while getting away from traditional, I think he's done a good job. In the end it's all about personal preference.
I went with traditional and added a personal touch with an Eagle appearing to break out of the tank. Again personal preference, but I think we both expressed our patriotism. :flag:

Not sure about the blue, part of me likes it, seems like it needs something, but you are the one that should be pleased. Just sayin:2thumbs:

Is it in writing?
If not your going to have a tough road ahead.
I think I can see exactly what you wanted originally and this aint it.
