Shop Vac

Ok, I've had my ole 1hpx1gal shop vac. Shop vac brand. I use to use it all the time when I detailed cars... loved it. Worked great for about 9 years. The other day while vacuuming out the wife's car... bang bang... whew....

It broke...

Took it apart (4 screws), broken impellar. no biggie, call Shop Vac. They don't have any or sell any parts other than casters, hoses, assecories. No service parts... PERIOD. If it was under warrenty they just send new units.

So its garbage now. Might see if a co-worker can tig weld it, but want to buy a new unit.

Shop Vac vs other

Pro Shop Vac:
long lasting

Con Shop Vac:
no servicing parts

Con all others:
I'm sure they are all made by the same company.

What other brands do you have? Rigid, Craftsman???

I have an old, very old Craftsman that has eaten enough crap to bury a landfill and still the dam thing continues to run. Water, Dust, Wall Board, Plaster .. you name it this thing has inhaled it. I also use it for repairing fiberglass/Carbon Fiber and Kevlar boats which means tons of dust and sucking up water.

Not wanting to use this on the car or in the house its that crappy looking I bought one from Home Depot -- lasted 30days, went to Lowe's and got one from them ... 4 months later its starting to die. Go Craftsman!!
