Polishing
After looking at all the polished billett and chrome on this site, I got all of my buffing and polishing equipment out of storage and went to work.
Thanks for the inspiration! Some Before and Afters: (Rear caliper-unbuffed on the left, front caliper on the right after buffing and polishing) Hope I did this Right ![]() I apologize for accidently deleting my photo's. Managed to keep copies of the one I'm not using though. My new user name will be Infinite retardo! Last edited by Infinitro; 10-23-2008 at 02:44 AM. Reason: Lost photo's |

I used to polish supercharger cases, but after the divorce all I had left was 1 well used old baldor buffer stuffed in a corner. She still works! After a little more practice I may well start doing it more. People who know me tell me I should since I am very detail oriented and it is an art and labor of love not work to me.

Patience, practice, trial and error and the correct equipment are all the essentials. When I was polishing supercharger cases I had 3 stations (buffers) I could go down the line and perform each step with the correct buffing wheel treated with the required compound. Now it's just a matter of doing alot of buffing wheel switching and adding whatever compound is needed. If you go to this site:
Plating Kits Electroplating Kits Aluminum Anodizing Kits Powder Coating Systems Metal Polishing And Buffing Supplies - Caswell Inc. Click on I think it's the third tab, "BUFFING", there is a free "HOW TO BUFF" book that can be downloaded. I have bought alot of stuff from these people over the years and they have always been great. Excellent service and fast shipping. If you have an idea of what you want, search buffing on ebay and alot of useful products come up there too. Let me know if you have any questions. Thanks! -Raymond- :cheers Forgot to mention: eBay Store - The Eastwood Company: Paints and Coatings, Powder Coating, Metal Buffing Another helpful company I have always gotten great service from. I think I am going to start polishing
I might lose my rat bike status with Raywood but the front tire has to come off for a tire change as soon as WB gets back on price check on new bushings and tire.
Might be a long weekend but I do have a 5th of vodka calling my name. Like I need a reason to drink it. But looks like a rainy weekend so a 5th of Vodka and a couple Acid Kuba Kuba cigars on hand so I might have to polish the wheel while its off.
