You use the word perfect alot... At the risk of being offensive, its an imperfect world trying to be perfect is just mental. I'm not saying dont be all you can be, but what I am sayin is if its not PERFECT... its still ok - relax and youll have more fun with it

I enjoy cleaning my bike almost as much as I enjoy riding it. Crazy right? So I don't mind the cleaning part. I almost like to ride it so it gets a lil dirty, that way I can spend more time with it cleaning it.

True, but when you are afflicted with this, easier said than done.

No shit. Me too. Take my bike and go for it!
Life is too short to be spending more time detailing than riding.
Why do you own a bike? So you can spend countless hours polishing it?

I'm anal about my toys too. Here's is our snowmobiles(mine and the wife's) after a good cleaning and polish. They are worse than the Dog since they ride on an open trailer to and from the play areas and are ridden in frozen rain for the most part. Keeping the alluminum up to that quality of shine takes alot of effort.

Wow those sure are pretty! Guess it would be tough to keep them looking like that!

Maybe it is a dog thing! It pisses me off to see how some people hardly ever even wipe the junk off their bikes and vechicles too. I catch myself wiping down over people's bikes when I see them half azz wiping them off or not wiping them off at all. It kinda freaks some people out too. I keep those white micro fiber rags with me. A friend of mine is a motorcycle cop and have taken the rags out of his hands when I see him just hitting the high spots on his personal bike and tell him to go away!!! He trusts me with it now! I sit on the ground and get those places that had never seen a rags or cleaner. I use that Weiman's silver polish on my chrome and billet and it doesnot seem to attract the dust as bad. My daughters driveway is Gravel, long gravel driveways suck,,,,If my scooter is really clean I won't ride it up there . We meet at the gas station when we go for rides, they think I am crazy. Don't put any of these polishes on your fingers to get in the tiny places,, even though it does a great job on the billett. It wll eat the skin off your finger and turn it nasty black!

Reaper you still undoubtly have the best looking bike hands down! I would polish it from one end to the other kinda just because. I could spend 5 or 6 hours straght on it. It is a hell of a lot easier to keep them clean than to clean them up after they get really nasty.

Thank you Ray, appreciate it. I keep my bike looking spotless, and like you I get into all the nooks, and crannies of the bike. And the undreside is just as clean, and polished as the rest of the bike. Now where we differ is I only clean my bike.

I have restored several cars, mostly black (my fav color), but always sold them shortly after restoration because, If I drove them, I wanted to them to always look thier best. So obviously, after a drive, it took a day or two to clean and polish for the next time out, only for them to get dusty for before that next time!!!! I love toys and love the way they look, when perfect, but at 52 years old, I am tired of keeping my stuff perfect.

Now that I have new paint and have my Dog the way I want it... I am going through the same problem. Even a short 50 mile ride, in my mind needs a complete detail to get rid of dust and bugs.

My other bike is a Goldwing that I used to keep perfect as well, but decided to make it a daily driver rain and shine. I ride it to work and everywhere all year long unless it's snowing or freezing. I was able to overcome keeping it clean every day. I now wash it only once a week.

But I can't seem to enjoy my Dog unless she is 100% presentable at all times. I just don't have time to keep going through this ritual!!!!

I have actually started concidering selling the Dog for the same reason as my old Muscle Cars.

I need help!!!!! Are their any other Anal Retentive nuts like me out there?
This is an ongoing problem for ALL dog owners, you are in a special class, the rest of them, not so much, you will not feel good untill that dog is clean before ANY ride, welcome to the world of custom.
There is in life very few things one can place between their leg's and feel the power as well as look it.
We own 30+ thousand dollar choppers, and that is a fact.
That fact pisses off many, we chose not to be like any other.
And your affliction effects myself as well.
The one thing i notice when bar hopping is there is always a guy with a stick up his ass, harley most of the time, and they always feel the need to say something, all i say is im tired of being like everybody else.

Wonders if you ever ride it? I spent a few hours wiping mine off this week before several of us rode up to a place called Camp Couragous right into Kentucky, ( Beautiful place where they completely take care of very sick children). This last week there were 80 kids there with MDA. The week before they had kids from St. Judes. The Club I ride with does a fund raiser every year so we get to go up and visit the staff and the kids. This was my first time to get to ride up there and get to experience this myself. You know we all like it when our scoots are glowing and as spotless as we can get them. We get all kinds of comments about the bikes all the time. I think I was most pleased to have my scooter cleaned up the other day than I ever have been before because all these kids were wanting to look at it , touch it, just look at it up close as they could to it,a few even sit on it,( they didn't want to get off). Yep, I spent about three hours wiping it down the other day but to see these kids get a little enjoyment out of it, and maybe just for a moment get to forget what they were dealing with everyday,,, It was worth every second I have spent keeping it as clean as possible.

And being anal like the rest here it got a few bugs on it coming home at 10:00 pm and I have to wipe them off before I take it out in a few minutes.

Everyone have a great weekend,

Ray
