Rain Gear

I am having to consider getting some rain gear. After looking around I see it ranges from under $30 to well over $100. I don't mind spending a little more if its worth it but what do you guys think? One thing I have to keep in mind is my pipes stick way out and I have a least one burn mark on every pair of pant or jeans I wear riding.

I bought some with "heat resistent" patches on the lower legs...

I have no heat shields, and that heat resistant skit is a real bitch to get off when it melts to your pipes...

I wear leather chaps, and cheap rain pants that I cut off at the knee's...

I sometimes carry chaps for when it might rain for the lower half and a large thick Hefty bag for the upper half. The Hefty bag is about .25 cents, is lightweight and takes up very little room. If it works for Hoat and others on the eastern seaboard, it works for me.

I was able to make a couple of weekend trips this year. First one was 500 + miles total and the second was 700 + total.

Sucked it up in T-shirt / jeans with the hour of rain we got total for the 1st trip.

Spent all but 2 hours total in thunderstorms during the second trip. I had bought a full face before the trip but refused to get it out until we were 100 miles away for some dumbass reason.

Bought new coat and chaps at the rally. Pulled over 30 mins after we left and put the gear on.

Aside from the chaps being a bit stiff while we sat down for lunch, it ended up raining the whole way back and it was actually a good ride.

A good leather "Riding" jacket, chaps and a full face helmet is the only way to ride in comfort for rain.

I was worried about looking like a f..kin tool with a helmet, let alone full face, but the comfort far out ways the cool factor when you are in the rain.

That reminds me....I will have to pick up some Hefty bags for when Hoat makes it in tomorrow. He is coming in dry and looks like there is a chance he will be leaving wet.

I, like Ray, ride with the "bubble package" on.

If there is enough interest in this package, we will put together a Group Buy, take orders and put all the components together, so you are ready to hit the rain at a moments notice.

The Bubble Package has been thru years of R&D and we think this is the best way to ride in rain.

This is not a one size fits all, and options will be available.

Here is a pretty good link to how to make a cheap heat shielf for the the Frogg Toggs to help prevent the holes from the pipes. Also Froggs Toggs are very good almost as good has WV Hefty Suites.

Thanks for all the input. I will check out the Frog Toggs. I usually just suck it up and get wet but I have been taking fairly long trip lately and want to be more comfortable. Thanks.

Hefty Bag is what we used with Fiber, ChaCha, Thumper and Hoat on the ride out east. Worked great!
That or stop at the nearest bar and wait it out....
