My Next Project License Plate Bracket
This week I accomplished one of the things on my list to upgrade/customize on bike. I had Seatmaker make me a custom seat. My next project is to do something about my license plate bracket. I guess it doesnt look bad, I just want something different. For one I would like to put a solo saddle bag and to do that I need to move the license plate back several inches.
Second, I just am not satisfied with the bracket that is on there. I'm sure there are many others that have the same one and are satisfied, I just want something different. Here is what mine looks like now: ![]() I would like to get something like this. I want vertical, curved, with brakelight: ![]() I talked to the guy who works on my bike, he builds bikes in Mississippi, and he didn't like my idea. He said that the only way he would be comfortable mounting a bracket like that to the axle and they never stay tight. I thought it would just mount in hole on the current frame is mounted on. If anyone has any suggestions, I'm willing to listen to any idea. If anyone has an idea shoot me a line ASAP.

First off, Id flip the plate around so the "Mississippi" is towards the tailight/plate light. To me it looks backwards. I personally wouldnt use an axel mount bracket. The curved bracket does look cool. I assume you already have the stock lights on the fender. I personally wouldnt put one down low(but thats your choice). I think a cleaner look would be mount a curved one with a plate light to your existing mount. On my new bike it had a horizontal mount. I drilled a few new holes and I was able to make it vertical. If you want to go the inexpensive route. Maybe you could make a bracket and mount it to your belt guard bolts.

I'll try to get a pic of the underside part of the bracket so you can see it. I'm really wanting to get this done, so if anyone has any suggestions or experience in this situation please let me know.

Agree the plate should be swapped. Also agree no need for another light, just clutter.
I also hated the stock plate setup. Truth be told, there is not great way, only less offensive ways. My goal was to make it as inconspicuous as posible and almost legal. I cut out the stock mounting tab. The plate is 1/8 inch from the rotor. The inside edge is inline with outer edge of tire. I fab'd up this temporary prototype out of shee metal. I will remake the "shark fin" potion out of 1"aluminum stock this winter. These were the in process pictures I have handy. ![]() I drilled and tapped the swing arm to mount it. Don't mind the giant bolt, it was just for mock up. ![]() Not best pic of plate. I was taking to show the bike with new sissy bar. ( don't think I like it)

I'm a subscriber. I've been trying to do this as well, my recent idea is to try and get the license plate mount and my axel bolt cover welded together. Sorry I don't have any pic's.
