'Dash' trim replacement for Mastiff Owners

A little background info:
On the way to work the other day, I noticed that the black rubber o-ring between the speedo and the dash had dry-rotted and snapped (sorry, no pic) so I decided that while I had the dash removed, I'd take a look under there and see what's going on.

While I was at it, I'd remove the weather stripping on the edges of the dash. This will be the 2nd time in about 4 years that I've replaced the weather strip with this same type so I know it works good and while it didn't really need replacing, what's $3.00

Ok, on to the pics.
This is for an 03 Mastiff.
Your results may vary.
To remove the dash remove the bolt that holds the annunciator panel and the lower bolt near the seat.

Here's what it looks like with the dash removed.

Here's the bracket that holds the annunciator panel.

The bolts for it were pretty rusty so a trip to Lowes and 4 bucks later, I'm GTG with some stainless hardware.

Here's the annunciator panel. Remove the 2 small phillips head screws and the circuit board and LEDs comes right out. Pop the clear lenses off and you can polish it to your heart's content!

It actually looks 100% better than the picture shows.

Here is the door weather strip I picked up from PepBys for about 3 bucks. Not sure what BDM charges for the oem stuff but this works just as good, is readily available and available in different colors and chrome if you are so inclined...

Here is the fit on the dash. Notice I leave a little extra on both ends. I normally leave this off the bike on my work stand over night to let it set up well and stretch or shrink in the sunlight a bit. The next day, I'll take a razor (CAREFULL!!) and trim it to the dash. The strip has a 3m adhesive that bonds well to the dash but not so much that it removes your paint. My old trim was over 2 years old and required only minor cleanup of the old adhesive. The good thing about this stuff is that wax will not turn it white like the oem stuff.

Here is the o-ring for the back of the speedo. About .80 cents from any hardware store that's worth a crap (not Lowes ).

While I'm in there, figured I would seal up the connector for the speedo just in case. Also, I inspected all my wiring for chaffing (found none), corrosion on my grounding block (found and treated) and applied dialectric grease to all connectors.

I was very pleased with the condition of all the wiring and connectors under there. I wash my bike with a hose and dry it with an electric leaf blower and I've never had any electrical issues (knock on wood) but then the older bikes never suffered from many electrical gremlins.

Sorry but I won't have pictures of the finished product until tomorrow but I'll post them up when I'm done.

Installation of the dash is the reverse of removal! Just make sure you don't over tighten the annunciator and dash mounting bolts. Your dash WILL crack and the edges of the dash could dig into your paint!!

I could not find a torque value for these and after speaking to a BD service center (that I trust), I was told to just snug it down and lock-tight the bolts.

Hope this helps someone that was thinking of doing this job.

LDO sends.

EDIT: Addition of Part II

Here's pics of the rest of the job.

I used a 2 3/8 I.D o ring 3 of them cost me about 2.50

Here's the fit on the speedo.

Molding after trim.

Fit on bike.

Started bike to make sure all lights on the annunciator panel are working properly and the speedo is responding to its inputs.

Everything checks 5.0!
