Jake,

thanks for all of your hard work on getting this figured out and helping Wire Plus get the modules built.

Nice job on the write up also. Gas set a high standard for how-to articles, and you met or exceeded those standards.

I finally heard back from Don at Wire-Plus and I will be carrying and offering this WP-374 module on my website.

I will know more and post when I get back from Daytona Biketoberfest for sure. I have so much going on between now and then.

Will this also work on the older Dogs (2002). The switches part I do not understand at all?

You have the Harley controls on your bike (2003 and older bikes) so this module is not needed. You could do the WP-182 module and get off a little cheaper with the same result.

Lot easier on your bike versus 2004 and newer with the HD controls.

Jake,
That is an excellent write up! You have helped work out many kinks that will come with changing the EHC's out. Very good pictorial also i might add.
My 05ridgeback will get this upgrade when it is needed.
After reading your thread i have a question:
You mention that the barrel key ignition switch, if three position will kill all the lights. Will it kill all the lights, including brake lights or just the headlight and tail lights?

Thanks again for the write up. It's given me the confidence to proceed!

Ordered mine today WP-374 complete kit, ships in 1 to 2 weeks. Also asked Don about down the road if I decided that I wanted to change out my hand controls to a standard control would I need a new module and he said no all I would need to do is run a separate ground wire and a positive wire thats it.

It kills the headlight, marker lights, and plate light, not the brake lights. The brake lights are totally separate. Brake lights could be shut off by installing a relay on the input wire.

Jake - Great work!!!!!!

Will this work on an 04? Don at Wire-Plus was not sure. Also, where did you get the wiring diagram and will we need it with final module?

The hand controls that I know of on the 2004 are the same as the 2005 seens how they are adapting the EHC over to it.

I have the 2004 & also the 2005 and up diagram. I would say it would greatly help.

As of November 16th, I have put 1000 miles on the new Wire-Plus Module with the good ol' EHC gone! No problems what so ever and smooth as glass. For the past year with the stock EHC, I have been averaging about 600-800 miles in between EHC failures for a total of, If I remember, 4 EHC's.

So, I am sure the problem is fixed and I am in for the long haul of enjoyment now!!!!

This is the switch, I can get you one, but I have not decided to carry them yet. I'd make sure to get one from Drag Specialties if not from me. "Designed so your keys will not fall out in off position" is non existant I think!!! I almost had a very bad issue on my way to Daytona Biketoberfest. I left Cracker Barrel and got about two miles down the road and forgot I left my headlight in the off position and reached down to NOT find my key. After about a half hour of backtracking and finding my key in the middle of an intersection, I quickly learned that Big Dog is not the only company that has a "lost key" problem.

Make sure you buy a good one.
