Tank Bushing

I recently installed a new set of four of the rubber tank bushing's underneath my gas tank. At certain speeds, usually lower, and in the lower gears, the tank still vibrates. Am I missing something here, should they be kept a little looser or is their a certain torque rating on these I don't know about?

What do you mean, is it making sound or just vibrating? It's gonna vibrate and move a bit.

On my 06 Mastiff the tank was vibrating against the top of the motor mount. I know your chopper tank isn't even close to that mount but my point is I unthreaded the rear tank bushing a few turns to raise my tank. Is it possible your tank is hitting something or are you only referring to movement?
At low rpms Everything shakes!!!

Tank Bushing

I understand the vibrating, but the tank actually shakes.
Bushings are tight.

FYI, I didn't know my tank was vibrating until I put my hand on it. I think it also makes a sound like something is loose or metal on metal at approximately 2500 rpm. I can say when I lost a throttle cable keeper down the handlebars, the loose item in the handlebar was louder. And, then of course, I got it out.

I might take my tank off today and look around. The weather sucks in Louisiana right now.

Not sure about torque specs, I sinch mine down pretty good. You're always going to have some movement with the vibration of the bike.

I have an annoying rattle at a certain rpm as well. I thought it was the gas cap as I could just touch the gas cap and it would go away. The cats at Gateway BigDog told me that it is the tank mounts that need to be torqued. Well, I did hit them with a torque wrench(14 ft\lbs) and the rattle went away for about 10 miles and then came back. I may have to try 20 ft/lbs and see if that makes a difference...

My 06 Chopper does the same thing at high RPM's. I've tried tightening the bolts and nothing seems to correct it. I think there's just going to be a certain amount of vibration you'll get and every bike is different.
