I think the stance is wrong, to long for my likes. Also, I don't think the gas tank has ANY style... just long.
I think the K9 styling is far superior which is a reason I own one. But, if you can get a killer deal, you can always change some things out... that's my opinion.

As stated is non epa. Should have a G carb, non-adjustable pushrods (don't know why they did that) Speedos have been a problem, Transmissons do fail from time to time (I think it is foreign made, Korea?). Right side drive with std Harley type primary so a little heavy on the left as far as balance. Std controls on the bars (Harley Style)

I have a friend that has one he is on here AIHswank
He has around 25k on his 05 and it's going strong. He did have a tranny issue as was mentioned above but those bikes are solid. The 111 seems to run every bit as good as the 117. The only other problem is the rear wheel pullies wear out but his tires and brakes seem to last a lot longer than mine |

Yeah, I heard the 2005's tranny's had a bad habit of blowin' up. My buddy had one. Hell, even the first tranny they got to replace it was fucked up outta the box. Second tranny finallly worked right. Revtech tranny.

Have both the 05 AIH Texas and the BD 04 Chopper.
If you like the look of the AIH gas tank, you will be ok with the AIH and you will not have more issues as with a BD. But the BD handles better in the mountains because of the smaller 250 rear tire and the shorter front legs and the BD gives you a more "quality" feeling. But thats my private opinion. The AIH is much easier to clean, cause it has more chrome than the BD with all that polished alu. But if you do not ride often and never in rain (like the most custom bike owners) that does not matter. I like both................ |

I had an 04 Texas Chopper. LSD with a 240 rear. I liked it. Never had trouble. Not nearly has well balanced as the 06 RSD I test rode and was thinking of trading for. Mine had the old style drag bars that made my arms stretch pretty far. Not too comfy for a passenger either. The tank has a small capacity...about 110 miles tops. It ran real strong. I had a CA model with the Mikuni and it perfromed great. Had V&H Big Radius on it without baffles and it was LOUD!! Road Maxx tranny that gave no issues. Sold it in 2008 for 17K. Built a house. Saved some bucks up and went to Big Dog. My 09 K-9 fits me better and has more style, handles and rides better for both me and the wife. Seems better built and more solid. I love it!! Plus BDM is still in business. I still like the cool skull Texas Chopper logo that AIH had.

My Bike(s): '04 AIH Texas Chopper S&S 124ci Rep Power: 0 ![]() |
I have an '04 with the Roadmax tranny and I beat on it pretty hard every now & then with an S&S 124ci....she's still holding up. As mentioned they "were" non EPA and I know mine runs like a MoFo. I average about 33 mpg when just cruising and have seen numbers in the 20's when hammering it bit more for any kind of distance.
The speedo isssue can be resolved by contacting Thunder-Heart Performance, it'll cost you anywhere from $125 - $500 (for a new updated & complete speedo). I'm on my 2nd speedo BUT not because mine went "crazy" like so many others. I had a bit of chrome flaking around a mounting bolt it was replaced in late '05 for free. Not sure if there were any upgrades on the TX Chop your looking at, such as chrome package, paint ect. But with only 5g miles and a price of $10g even in todays market thats a steal to me. You wouldn't touch mine for that...I can say that for sure. ![]() and YES, the logo Kicks Ass
