Anyone running synthetic Lucas 20W50?

I used the search feature and didn't find much info on the Lucas synthetic 20W50. Many harley dealers are pushing this stuff pretty hard. It says it can be ran in all three holes but i was most interested in how it did in the engine. Cheapest price i've found at a dealer is $13.50/qt.

Rhino17, the common consensus here seems to be either AMS or Mobil1. There are a few using other brands from Lucas to the purple stuff. I myself am a part of the AMS group. I started off on Revtec and noticed the oil would break down pretty quick before changing over to AMS. Hopefully someone using Lucas will speak up for ya. But just to let ya know, just a week back Mobil1 was on sale for 7.99 which is a great buy!

Hey Brew. How can a guy tell if the oil he is using is breaking down? I use the purple stuff. I like it a lot. It makes the exhaust smell funny but I like it. I run it in all of my vehicles. I watched a bearing test done with the purple and was sold.
Check it out.

Sorry Mikie, maybe I should have worded it differently. By breaking down I meant thinning. The revtec worked in the scoot pretty well in the cooler months but when it would warm up outside, I could tell by certain engine noises and by keeping watch to see how the oil would thin out. Even though I still change out my oil between 2500 and 4000 miles while on AMS, I've noticed the AMS didn't break down/thin out like the other. As the fella stated the film strength lowers as the oil thins and you can hear it in the video. I hope this clarifies what I was trying to convey. Sorry sometimes I just don’t clarify things very well…

Loud and clear! I think I suffer from the lack of clarity most of the time myself.

I use amsoil. I seen there test results and if you believe them then it is the best oil out there for our dogs.

I used Lucas synth 50wt for a summer when I was traveling though the square states for a month. Worked great and looked near new when I drained it out after 4200 miles. I normally use Amsoil, but was fine with the Lucas product.

Thanks for the responses guys. I just picked up this '09 K9 and I'm wanting to change the fluids out right away, and the Mobil 1 at Wally World for $9.97/qt looks like the easiest way to get it done. Point taken on the Ams, maybe someday I'll give that a try. I did find the Spectro 6 speed and Spectro primary fluid at a dealer for the other two holes. Also going to use K&N oil 170C oil filter for now. Sounds like Ams and a K&P are also a very popular setup.

The K&P filter is a pretty trick setup. Mad Dog here caries them. Give he a good guy and easy to work with too.

Recently swithced to AMSoil myself and it seems to be running great. 20W-50 in the engine and primary. 75-140 Severe Gear in the trans. This is in the BD and the HD.

I got the purple from a lock shop. But it was the last bit they had and planned on getting. They hadn't moved enough to justify getting more is what I got out of it. Now that being said my brother has an auto shop here that I will order a case through next time.
