Ok, just updating the info, they called and said they think something was stuck in the belt thus causing it to lock up, not saying anything other than I can't explain the noise I heard from the primiary area if this is true. My biggest concern is that my warranty runs out on the 16th of the month and its mid winter, no riding time to check it all out. Hopefully they will still honor it later on if it does implode. I feel sure something in the tranny's smoked but it's not my decision to tear into it.

I was in Iron Lightning yesterday. I asked if they'd worked on your tranny yet. They said they thought it was something in the primary. Call Mike at Thundercycle and ask him if he thinks this is possible or if you should have the tranny cracked open. They do a really good job on mine. It may be worth a "second opinion".

If they are made aware of a problem before warranty runs out, even if it's the last day, they must honer the warranty even if it runs out. I know this because I work the warranty stuff at an H-D stealership.

1mndg, I'm aware of how HD does it as like you I went to the cheese head state and sat through that boring class to get certified to do warranty claims for HD. I was the service manager at a HD dealership down in Tx., I did get drunk many times on HD's dime, in Arizona,Wis. and Florida, anyway I have faith that it will work out now or later. I'm just baffled with all the tranny problems these bikes have,

Yes, if it's a known issue before the warranty is up, they will honor it.

Thumper - next year you should carry the baseball and bat to the toy run somewhere besides the primary case. It's really not made for hauling toys!

Did you ever have any clutch problems, like drgging at a stop light or slipping? Hard shifting, hard to find neutral, anything like that? Was any cable slack or alot of free play at your lever? With over 4000 miles, do you cruise in 4th gear alot?

No clutch problems, it actually did have something chew the belt up so it's likely they were right about picking up a rock, picked it up today and all seems fine, time will tell for sure. I'm pulling the rear end out tomorow so I will see it I can find where it got stuck at.

I've been out of town this weekend so I missed answering the question about what I was doing in a timely manner. Day late, dollar short...what's new? HA
Have fun tearing that rearend off and fixing that fender.

Where did the belt get chewed up at? Was it on the top side of the belt and look like gashes?

Hey Thumper, just remember, if you need anything just give me a shout. I've got that trailer just sitting there. If all else fails, we can hold it to Kansas-

The last time I seen an object lock up the rear wheel, there was damage. Not saying they didn't fix it, but why not have them call BDM techs and make sure they don't have any concerns or may want something looked at,if they want something checked then it would probably be under warranty, you never know until you ask.

I'm heading out right now to put a few miles on it before pulling it down, the belt was worn on the outside edge, no gashes, just smooth and missing. I'll give BDM a call tomorrow and see what they say, I did learn that Bakers come with a 5 year 50,000 mile warranty and this is probably the reason BDM is repairing some out of warranty.

You will find out that Bakers 5 year warranty only comes with their prududcts, BDMs is a seperate warranty.
